Owen Wright, aged 44, residing in the Crowder Springs community died instantly Thursday, Nov. 3, from a charge of shot from a shot gun he carried while returning to his home after hunting squirrels near his farm.

Mr. Wright was accompanied by his son, William Wright, aged 14, and was joined on the round by two more boys, Elmer Bynum, 14, and Clarence Bynum, 12. William’s statement to the coroner’s jury was that Mr. Wright had become ill on the round and had told him and the two Bynum boys to walk in front of him that his gun might go off accidentally. The three boys complied with his request and after going through a fence into a field, were walking some ten or fifteen steps ahead when they heard the report of Mr. Wright’s gun. Returning to him, they found him dead the charge of shot entering the back of his head.

The boys summoned immediate help and a coroner’s jury formed by Justice of the Peace R.W. Bird, rendered a verdict of suicide.

Owen Wright was born at Blain, Okla., Nov 6, 1888 and married to Miss Pearl Sanders in March 1916. To this union was born eight children, six boys and two girls, Gladys, William, Rosa, Howard, Roy, Donal, and Paul.

Mr. Wright moved to this section in 1922 and was engaged in farming and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held in the Wright home Friday, Nov. 4, under the direction of J.V. Hilliard, and interment made at 2:30 in the Crowder Springs cemetery.

Mr. Wright was a brother to Mrs. H.E. Ringgold.
