Lawrence Phillips

Funeral services for Lawrence Phillips of Hugo were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kay Buchanan officiating. Interment was in Soper Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman, Texas. He was 89.
Lawrence Phillips was born December 3, 1915 in Clinton, Okla., the son of LeeAnder & Emma (Seiferp) Phillips. He lived most of his life north of Soper, before moving to Hugo about six years ago. He worked as a police officer for the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Edith Phillips on November 4, 2002; one sister, Mamie Reed; and one brother, Lee Phillips.
Surviving relatives: One son, Richard Phillips of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter, Janice Clabier of Conroe, Texas; one sister, Iola Dure of Napa, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
