V.C. Stiefer
The Hugo Daily News

    Services for V.C. Stiefer, of Hugo, were at 11 a.m. Dec. 30, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Hugo. The Rev. Doug McClure officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
    V.C. Stiefer died Dec. 27, 2002 in Paris, Texas. He was 88.
    V.C. Stiefer was born March 5, 1913 in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Charles Clayton and Minnie Dot (Murphy) Stiefer. He married Verna Brockman Oct. 5, 1940 in Tyler, Texas.
    He was a member of the Hugo First Baptist Church and was the Class Commander of the Flying School at Cuero and Uvaldi, Texas for the Army Air Corps. He had owned and operated both the Sinclair and Conoco Oil Companies. He also owned the Stiefer Motor Company. V.C. had served on the city council and had worked with the Boy Scouts. He was currently a member of the Housing Authority.
    He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
    He is survived by his wife, Verna Stiefer of Hugo; one son, Charles Stiefer of Durant; one daughter, Winema Copher of North Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Brian Copher, Ginger Hill and husband Patrick, all of North Little Rock, Ark., Jason Stiefer of Washington state and Paula Stiefer of Costa Rica; and one great-grandchild, Ema Hill of North Little Rock, Ark.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Mexico missionary fund.
    The Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.
