Linnie Pauline Smith
contributed by The Hugo Daily News

Funeral services for Linnie Pauline Smith of Hugo were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. Interment was in Goodland Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Monday, December 20, 2004, in Paris, Texas, after a long bout with cancer. She also survived an oxygen explosion in September while hospitalized. She was a warrior in life, no matter what happened to her. She was called "Ohoyo Tushka," meaning Warrior Woman in Choctaw. She wanted people to know that with early detection and proper treatment, breast cancer can be overcome. Also, if people are smokers, they need to quit, and if they don't smoke, don't start. All hospitals should observe and comply with a zero-tolerance smoking policy.
Linnie Pauline Smith was born on October 8, 1921 in Valliant, Okla., to Simpson Elias and Willie B. (Powell) Push. She married Ross Smith on August 19, 1968 in Hugo. She was a homemaker and was a retired social worker for the Choctaw Nation. She worked so hard for her beloved fellow Indian people, because they needed someone to go to for help, and she was always there for them. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ross Smith; her mother Willie Fulton; and one sister, Alice Harred.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Brous of Plano, Texas and Jackie Deloy Poore of New Caney, Texas; two daughters, Frances Sue Parks-Fragola of Syracuse, N.Y., and Lee Parks-Parrish of Hugo, Okla.; three grandchildren, Vito Fragola, II, of Las Vegas, Nev., Laurie Ann Fragola of Syracuse, N.Y., and Kim Brous-Foster of Duncanville, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Jeremi Fragola, Paul R. Fragola, Anthony L. Fragola, all of Syracuse, N.Y., Danielle Foster and Nicholas Foster of Duncanville, Texas.
    Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home - Hugo.
