Verna B. Stiefer

    Funeral services for Verna B. Stiefer of Hugo were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Hugo with Rev. Doug McClure officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
    Mrs. Stiefer died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in Hugo. She was 87.
    Verna Stiefer was born on July 11, 1917 in Ft. Towson, Okla., to Charlie and Grace (Boyd) Brockman. She married V.C. Stiefer on October 5, 1940 in Tyler, Texas. She was a homemaker and had been past president of Stiefer Oil Co. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo and loved her Lord, her church and loved to sing in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, V.C. Stiefer.
    She is survived by one son, Charles Stiefer of Durant; one daughter Winema Copher of North Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Winema Marbut of Hugo; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    The family received friends Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 5-6 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo.
