Michael "Mike" Dean Armes

    Funeral services for Michael "Mike" Dean Armes of Hugo were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at Hugo Junior High School Gym with Reverend Gene Witt, Reverend Mike Bryant and Reverend Lynn Parnell officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
    Mike Armes passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005, in Hugo. He was 56.
    Michael Dean Armes was born on November 18, 1948 in Paris, Texas, to Leo Dean and Jean Marie (Cole) Armes. He married Joyce Taylor on August 18, 1967 in Hugo. He had lived in this area all of his life and was a member of the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Hugo. He worked in the Hugo school system for many years as a coach, teacher, high school principal and head of the alternative school. Mike was also a Baptist minister and loved his Lord. He touched the lives of many people by helping them in any way he could and by living his life as an example to others, especially the young people. Mike also worked for the Hugo Fire Department, the Frisco Baptist Association and was a member of the Hugo Lions Club. He loved sports; he was an avid fisherman, fishing in as many tournaments as he could.
    Mike is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; one son, Josh Armes and wife Christy of Hugo; one daughter, Deana Lawless and husband Marty of Coriene; his parents Leo Dean and Jean Marie Armes of Hugo; one brother, Don Armes and wife Shirley of Hugo; one sister, Diane Wallace and husband Bobby of Sawyer; two grandchildren, Trenton & James.
    The family received friends Thursday, February 10, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo.
