Aaron Eugene Potts

Aaron Eugene Potts, 14, of Norman died Friday, Jan. 14 in Oklahoma City Children's Hospital. Services were held on Mon. Jan. 17 at the Journey Covenant Church in Norman with the Rev. Leon Rich of Tulsa officiating. Services were under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Aaron was born June 9, 1990, in Norman, to Eric and Tera Potts. He was an eighth-grade student at Longfellow Middle School in Norman. He enjoyed playing football, and in 2002 played on the Longfellow Middle School championship team. He also enjoyed four-wheeling and often would go four-wheeling with his family in four-wheel drive pickups.
Aaron enjoyed the Kiamichi Mountains and often spent time there with his family. He enjoyed playing paintball and had won paintball tournaments. He often worked as a paintball referee at the Wild West Paintball facility. He also enjoyed fishing with his beloved friends the "Bowden family" of Sawyer. He was very proud of his southeastern Oklahoma heritage. He attended Journey Church of Norman.
Aaron will be remembered as outgoing, loving, honest, giving and one who loved his family and the time they spent together. He was a leader, not a follower. One of his favorite foods was fried chicken, which he referred to as "chicken with hard bark." He will be missed by his family and friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his great-great-grandfathers, George Songer and Luther Potts both of Sawyer; Great-grandfathers, Earl Potts and J.C. Barton, and his great-grandmother Erma Idleman; great-great-uncles Homer Lee Songer of Sawyer and Ray Songer of Norman.
Survivors include his parents, Eric Eugene and Tera Lynn Potts of Norman; sister Abby Potts of the home; grandparents Curtis and Sue Potts and Jim and Tia Idleman, all of Norman; great-grandparents Gracie Potts, Joe and Juanita Curry and Neveda Williams, all of Norman, and Ray Idleman of Noble; uncles and aunts Kelly Ray Potts of Oklahoma City, Lori and Rodney Bowden of Norman and Tisha King of Edmond; Great-great uncles Vester Songer of Hugo and Curtis Songer of Norman; and many other relatives and friends.
Honorary bearers are Joshua Potts, Tyler Potts, DonCurtis Elgin, Gary Adkins, Sean Adkins, Ben Jeffers, John Keene and Kevin Booth.
