Bobbie Jean (Fulton) Manning

On Monday, August 15, 2005 Bobbie Jean Manning passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Bobbie Jean was born January 25, 1927 in Hugo to Robert and Ollie Marie (Rankin) Fulton. Bobbie Jean spent her early years in Hugo and Grant. She attended boarding school at Goodland Children’s Home after her mother died in 1937. In 1943, Bobbie Jean married Travis Manning, also of Hugo, in Paris, Texas. Travis and Jean moved their growing family to Stillwater, Minneapolis, Brookings, S.D., Fayetteville, Ark., Kansas City,, and finally Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where Travis became professor of Agriculture Economics & Rural Sociology at the University of Alberta. Jean was active in many clubs at the university, including serving as President of the International Friendship Group. Jean was a warm, loving person who made friends wherever she went. Travis pre-deceased Jean in 1996. Jean leaves behind six children: Barbara McKenzie of Thorsby, Alberta; Elizabeth Manning of Sidney, British Columbia: Patricia Stevenson of Edmonton: Nancy Manning of Midland, Mich.; John Manning of Edmonton: and Linda Manning of Los Angeles; three sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Tom Fulton, cousin Lucille Day, brothers-in-law Dwain Manning, Nolan Manning, and Roy Tabor, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service took place in Edmonton on August 19th. Jean’s ashes were interred with Travis’s at the Shoat Springs Cemetery in Hugo on October 22nd at 2 p.m. Bobbie Jean is loved and cherished by all who knew her. We look forward to being with her again in the life to come.
