James Thomas Henderson
Fort Towson Enterprise – April 25, 1913 – transcribed by Ron Henson
James Thomas Henderson was born in Lauderdale county, Mississippi, April 23, 1844, and died April 12, 1913. On leaving the old home he first settled in Texas, from there he moved to Arkansas, and in 1900 came to Oklahoma, settling in Choctaw county, where has since resided. He was in poor health for the past seven years, and about a year ago suffered a paralytic stroke in his right arm and leg. Last Thursday it returned in his right and side, but did not seem so severe as before, and Saturday morning seem quite well, got up and made the fire and was more jovial than common. He ate a hearty breakfast and went to the horse lot whistling, got out his mule and plowed three rounds and a half. Turning at the end of the row he called whoa to his mule and fell and expired in a few moments.
His remains were laid to rest in Spencerville cemetery Sunday, April 13, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Alexander.
