David Chatman Abernathy
Fort Towson Enterprise – April 5, 1912 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Memorium of David Chatman Abernathy
One the morning of March 31st the recording Angel opened the Book of Gold and boldly wrote the name of David Chatman Abernathy, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Abernathy.
David was 14 year and 18 days old. His illness was of short duration. He was an industrious, intelligent boy, and was a favorite with his friends and playmates, owing to his pleasant disposition, he always had a smile for everyone. David will not only be missed by his family, but by his friends, schoolmates and teacher.
He leaves to mourn their loss a father, mother, three sisters and one brother, who have the sympathy of a host of friends.
His remains were interred in the Doakesville cemetery April 1. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Holly.
He has left us, Oh, how sad to hear so soon his parting words; To lose his form and lose his smile, But we lose him only for awhile.
A. Friend.
