Unknown Man
Fort Towson Enterprise – February 25, 1916 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Unknown Man Killed
An unknown man aged about 30 years, was killed on the railroad last Saturday afternoon two miles west of town. Had black hair, brown eyes, about 5 feet 9 inches in height, would weigh between 165 and 175 pounds and was clean shaven; one tooth missing in lower left jaw next to front teeth and small round scar two inches from lower end of sternum towards right nipple. In pocket was small black bill book containing ticket claim coupon from Kensett to Little Rock, dated Jan. 8, 1916, an iron Mountain train order, No 324, given at Hope, Ark., and small piece of linen with three strawberries and three leaves embroidered on with silk. Also carried small match box with the name Miller written on top.
The remains were taken in charge by the authorities late that evening and carried to the cemetery and buried without a coffin, and as soon as it was found out people became very indignant and had the body taken up and given a decent burial. Peace to his ashes.
