Isabell Himes

Funeral services for Isabell Himes of Shoals were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2004, in Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen W. Buchanan officiating. Interment was in Shoals Cemetery.
Mrs. Himes died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. She was 89.
Isabell Himes was born March 24, 1915 in Choctaw County, the daughter of Fred and Clara Jessie (Tillman) Houston. She lived in the Frogville and Shoals area all of her life. She married George Calvin Himes. She worked for many years as a cook for the Grant School cafeteria. She was a member of Shoals Baptist Church, loved gardening and raising chickens.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Danny Himes; three sisters; one brother; and one half-sister.
Surviving relatives: Son, Paul Junior Himes of Shoals; two brothers, Dee Houston of Paris, Texas, and Richard Houston of Frogville; one sister, Ruby Shingleton of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren.
