Moved to Hugo in 1907 From Texarkana, Is Report
Hugo, Dec. 14 -- Charles Straughn, aged 75, one of the oldest citizens of the city and county died at his home at 1116 West Main street, about 7:30 Friday night.
Mr. Straughn was born in Paducah, Kentucky, where he grew to manhood. He later moved to Texarkana from whence he moved to Hugo.
Since moving to Hugo, Mr. Straughn has builded himself a reputation of being one of the city's most progressive citizens.
He is survived by his widow, and four children. They are G.B. Straughn, O.E. Straughn and Coffee Straughn, all of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. J.S. Persons of Hugo.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Protestant church, with Reverends Anderson and Howell officiating.
Interment was made in the Mount Olive cemetery. Pall bearers were C.P. Balch, A.B. Tyus, Mr. Jackson, Claude Pitts, Mr. Allen and C.P. Johnson.
Mr. Straughn formerly lived in Idabel and taught school there. Also taught school at Haworth. He was a good citizen.
