Dr.
H.H. White, 82, who came to Paris from Hugo, Okla., to head the urology
department of the Sanitarium of Paris in 1925, died in the hospital
Saturday morning.
The funeral, Monday at 9 a.m.,
will be held in Holy Cross Church, Episcopal, by the rector, the Rev.
James W. O'Connell, Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home sending the body to Dr.
White's old home, Jackson, Tenn., for interment.
Surviving are Mrs. White, the
former Miss Wayne Thornton, and two sisters, Mrs. A.O. Reinhardt,
Tunica, Miss., and Mrs. Carl L. Jones, Lakeland, Fla.
Hal Hugh White was born in
Jackson, November 21, 1877, son of Hugh L. and Elizabeth (Glenn) White.
Married in Jackson, May 20,
1902, the year after his graduation from the University of Louisville,
Ky., medical school, Dr. and Mrs. White moved to Hugo where he practiced
medicine and was active in civic affairs for 23 years.
For 21 of those years, he was
division surgeon for the Frisco Railroad; served as city and Choctaw
County health officer for a time and was medical examiner for the
Selective Service Board during World War I, besides serving as an
alderman four years. He was long active in the Masonic lodge.
Coming to Paris, he and his
wife were active in the city's social life and medical fraternity
affairs, becoming members of the Paris Golf Club and medical
organizations.
Dr. White was named a fellow
of the American College of Surgeons in 1929; was acting chief of staff
and later staff president of the Sanitarium of Paris after the death of
Dr. L.P. McCuistion.
