Daily News
Robert Nathan Handleman, a.k.a. “Buddy” went home to be with Nancy at 3:07 am Sunday, July 4th, 2004 after a long and courageous battle against colon cancer.
He was a loving and supportive father and great provider to his wife and children. After 37 wonderful years of marriage to his wife Nancy, Robert was one of the lucky few to find another love in Kathy Haddock before he passed from our view. He was a loyal friend with a strong spirit that made people want to be around him. He became a truck driver because he enjoyed the travel and visiting different parts of our beautiful nation. Being a trainer and driver for so many years gave him many friends which included Christine and Joseph Hodge, who stood by his side to the end and Robert “Sandy” Grimes who loved him as his brother and many more in different parts of the country. His favorite pastimes included watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies, and listening to country and western music, Johnny Cash being his favorite singer. He also enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia, raising cattle and working in his garden. Independence Day was his favorite holiday, as he was not only a loyal friend, he was a loyal soldier as well, serving in the National Guard as a tank driver.
Robert was survived by three children; his eldest son Robert Lance and wife Monica, with their three sons, Christopher, Travis and Nathan, aka “Charlie Brown”, his youngest son, Larry Wayne and wife Geneva with their two children, Jesse and Chelsea, and his “baby girl”, Naomi Lynn. Also surviving Robert were his sister and brother-in law, Sue and Robert McAdam and their children; his nephew, Robert “Bobby” McAdam, his wife Susan and their children, Stacy, Josh and Jason, his niece, Ada Boucher, her husband Kevin and their son Austin, and his youngest nephew, Terry, his wife Jamie and their children James and Elizabeth, as well as Jackie’s children Billy, Nathan and Winona, and many other cousins and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jackie, parents Nathan and Winona and wife, Nancy.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Heartland Hospice Services, 605 South Park Drive, Suite 12, Broken Bow, OK 74728. Their staff was very dedicated, caring and helpful in these last few weeks.
