Chester Henson

Henson rites set Saturday

    Glover resident Chester "Chet" Henson, 63, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Glover. He was born June 3, 1939, at Soper to Merland and Elsie Henson.
    Chet was a lifetime resident of southeast Oklahoma and had lived in McCurtain County for 35 years. He had a "doctorate" in mechanics and was owner and operator of Chet and Son’s Garage for many years. Chester Henson served in the U.S. Army.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Merland and Elsie Henson, Millerton; and a brother, Wiley Henson, Idabel.
    He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Wanda Lee Johnson Henson, Glover; and his sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie Eugene and Susie Henson, Clayton, Merle Douglas and Michelle Henson, Broken Bow, and Kenneth Wayne Henson and Charlie David Henson, both of Glover.
    Chet was a very special uncle and father figure to Lynn Bond, Broken Bow, Carl Bryant and Jennifer Morales, both of El Cajon, Calif., Allen Bryant, Winder, Ga., John Whisenhunt, Idabel, and Charley Whisenhunt, Fort Hood, Texas.
    He is also survived by his grandchildren, Summer Brooke, Checotah, Orrin Wesley and Samantha Dawn, both of Clayton, Derrick Wayne, Broken Bow, and Emerald Page, Idabel; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Hellen and Dobber Harmon, Rattan, Nina Cockrill, Frisco, Texas, Bobbie Stapp, Tom, Pat Watterson, Broken Bow, and June and Roger Horton, Eufaula; and many very special nieces, nephews and special buddies, Eddie Taylor, Golden, and Woody Woodruff, Glover.
    Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in Spencerville Cemetery, Spencerville, Okla.
