Our Dad is walking the streets of gold
J.C. Lemmond departed this life Feb. 3, 2004, after a brief illness. He was a kind, loving, gentle, genuine and considerate man who always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He married Ruth Alexander on December 26, 1968, in DeQueen, Ark. He worked at many jobs through the years, working in California, in Wyoming at a CCC Camp, and as a truck driver. J.C. started Lemmond Produce with his brothers in 1947. After he retired from the produce business, he and Ruth worked for the Hugo Daily News delivering the daily paper for several years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was the oldest member there. Though the past few years his health kept him close to home, he still called Oak Grove his home church. While active at church he was involved in many ministries, among them the jail ministry, youth ministry, and he and his family traveled to Old Mexico where they were involved in missionary work. J.C. loved the Lord and he tried to instill that love and faithfulness into his children.
J.C. was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the Air Force and served as an Air Cadet. He then entered the Infantry as a Tech Sergeant. He was on active duty in Germany during the War. He served his country with pride and dignity. He was our "American Hero."
His favorite pasttime was playing dominoes. His other hobbies were reading westerns, reading his Bible, watching football and gardening. He truly had a "green" thumb. He always said, ÒI should have been a bee.Ó He loved to sniff the scent of the roses. He touched many lives and his life was a testimony to all who knew him.
