Daniel Shaw Buried At Sawyer Monday
The Hugo Daily News July 7, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Funeral services for Daniel Robert Shaw, 85, will be held at the family home at Sawyer, Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock according to word from the Senner Funeral home this afternoon.
Mr. Shaw died at 7 o’clock this morning following a long illness.
Interment will be conducted in the Sawyer cemetery following the services at the home.
Nation Rites Held This Afternoon

Funeral services for W.C. Nations were held this afternoon, with Interment being made in the Everidge Cemetery.
Mr. Nations, aged 29, died in the Paris sanitarium following a four month’s illness Thursday morning.
Snow Funeral home had charge of Funeral arrangements.
Boyd Funeral Is Held This P.M.
Interment Takes Place In Sawyer Cemetery Today

Funeral services for G.W. Boyd, aged 83, were held this afternoon at 5 o’clock, according to an announcement to The News at noon today from the Snow Funeral home which had charge of funeral arrangements.
Interment took place in the Sawyer cemetery.
Mr. Boyd had been a resident of Choctaw county for the past 30 years, the majority of which were spent in the Sawyer community.
He is survived by four sons, Harvey Boyd, of Hugo; Richard Boyd, of Sawyer; Henry Boyd of Sawyer and Jim Boyd of Newark, N.J.
Pallbearers at the services were Tom Purcell, A.B. Sanders, Travis Hawkins, George Marshal, A.W. Taylor and Bill Hemby.
Carl Harris To Be Buried Sunday A.M.

Carl Ray Harris, 17 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Harris died early this morning according to word from the Snow Funeral home at noon today.
Funeral services will be held at the home Sunday morning at 10 o’clock with interment in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
D.A. Lovell Died Early Wednesday
Junior High Teacher to Be Buried At Sherman
The Hugo Daily News July 15, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Dorrel A. Lovell, aged 28 years, who died early this morning in the Johnson Hospital, following an operation performed last Sunday, will be buried Thursday morning, it was announced this afternoon from the Coffey-Campbell Funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Sherman Cemetery, following funeral services which will be held in that city.
Mr. Lovell, a Junior High school teacher, late last week was stricken with appendicitis and an emergency operation was performed in an effort to save his life.
However this morning at about 6:30 o’clock death occured [sic].
Mr. Lovell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Lovell, and one son, Jan, aged 2 years. He is also survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Lovell of Wilson, Oklahoma.
The body will be kept in the Coffey-Campbell funeral home chappel [sic] until early tomorrow morning when it will be shipped overland to Sherman for burial.
Spencerville Miss Died Early Thursday

Cleta Jane Crowder, two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Crowder, of Spencerville, died early this morning at the family home.
Funeral services according to word from the Senner funeral home, will be held at Spencerville Friday morning.
Surviving relatives are her parents and four sisters and five brothers.
Mrs. Davenport Died Near Soper Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. George A. Davenport, aged 60 years, who died Monday were held at the Sugar Creek Cemetery at about noon Tuesday.
According to the information Mrs. Davenport was a victim of heat yesterday and was found dead in her bed by relatives.
She is survived by her husband and several children.
Mrs. Davenport was widely known in the Soper community having resided with her husband in that community for more than 35 years.
Bobby Jean Wall To Be Buried Friday P.M.

Funeral services for Bobby Jean Wall, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Wall will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock, it was announced this afternoon.
Following an illness of several weeks, Bobby Jean died in the Paris Sanitarium early this morning.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Protestant church with Reverend J.W. Browers in charge. Interment will take place in the Mount Olivet cemetery.
Snow Funeral home will have charge of funeral arrangements.
L.G. Bracheen To Be Buried Tues.
Interment Will Be In Mount Olivet Cemetery

L.G. Bracheen, aged 59, died at his home on South G street early Sunday night.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Protestant church Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock, with the Reverend J.W. Browers, pastor in charge of the rites.
Interment will take place in the Mount Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Bracheen had been a resident of Hugo for many years.
Pall bearers at the funeral will be, J.S. Pearsons, William Watson, C.P. Johnson, W.W. Jordan, W.F. Wantland and Henry Watson.
Snow Funeral home will have charge of Funeral arrangements, the announcement this afteroon indicated.
Mrs. M. Williamson Buried At Ft. Towson
The Hugo Daily News July 27, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Mrs. Maxine Williamson, aged 20, was buried in the Fort Towson cemetery Sunday afternoon, with Reverend Collum of Grant officiating at the services, said word from the Snow Funeral home today.
Mrs. Williamson died at her home south of Fort Towson at about 5 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
She is survived by her father, J.L. Cash, one small daughter, two sisters and one brother.
Frank Pritchard Died Early Today
The Hugo Daily News July 29, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Frank Pritchard, aged 40 of Fort Towson, died at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Marvin Fodge, there early this morning, according to word from the Coffey-Campbell funeral home today.
No funeral arrangements had been made as two relatives, a sister, Miss Cora Pritchard of Western Oklahoma, and a brother, Louis Pritchard, of Texas, had not arrived here late today.
Earl Browning Was Buried This Afternoon

Earl Wayne Browning, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Browning of this city died at the family residence early this morning.
Funeral services were held at the Springs Chapel cemetery this afternoon at 4 p.m. with the Reverend C.E. Testerman officiating.
Snow Funeral home had charge of funeral arrangements.
Funeral For S.G. Brawner Held Today

Funeral services for S.G. Brawner, aged 71 years, were held at the Snow Funeral home Chapel this afternoon at 4 o’clock, with interment following in the Paris cemetery.
The Reverend LeRoy Elkins, officiated at the services, according to the announcement.
Mr. Brawner died early this morning.
Surviving relatives were not announced.
Speer Youth Died Wednesday Evening

George Harrel Webb, two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Webb of Speer died Wednesday night at the family home.
The funeral was held this morning at 10 o’clock at the Choctaw county cemetery near Speer.
Snow funeral home of this city had charge of funeral arrangements.
T.J. Cross Died Early Monday A.M.
Funeral Services To Be Held Tuesday Afternoon

T.J. Cross, aged 79, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alvie Brewer, at 9 a.m. on 1007 South I street, following a long illness.
Mr. Cross was a pioneer citizen of Choctaw county and a charter member of the Hugo Masonic lodge.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brewer at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon with Reverend Browers in charge of the final rites, and with the Coffey-Campbell funeral home in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Surviving relatives are Jim Cross and Mrs. Alvie Brewer, both of Hugo, and Dalton Cross of Idabel, all children.
Interment will be made in the Springs Chappel [sic] cemetery following the services.
Mrs. Cross died in June of this year, it was announced to The News this morning.
Funeral Held Sunday For Mrs. VanDusen

Funeral services were held Sunday at Norman, for Mrs. Arthur VanDusen, aged 30, it was announced here today.
Mrs. VanDusen was the sister of Guy Hughes, former Hugo resident.
Mrs. VanDusen is survived by her husband, a four year old son and a 7 day old son.
Miller Funeral Is Held This Afternoon

Funeral services for Monroe L. Miller, aged 44 [?], were held this afternoon at the Choate [sic] Springs cemetery with the Reverend Malcom McFarland reading the final rites.
Mr. Miller died at his home in Sawyer early last night.
He is survived by his widow and six children.

Frogville Man Died After Long Illness
The Hugo Daily News August 23, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
J.W. Fowler, 82, died at his home in the Frogville community at 11:40 o’clock Saturday morning after a several weeks illness.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Wilkins at the Shoals school house Sunday morning at 10:30 o’clock and interment will follow in the Shoals cemetery. Funeral direction will be in charge of Coffey-Campbell funeral home.
The deceased is survived by four sons, Jim and Alvis of Hugo, and Jess and Louis of Texarkana. Two daughters, Miss Mary Fowler and Mrs. Earl Chandler of Texarkana.
Mrs. Straughn Was Buried This P.M.
Pioneer Resident Of Hugo Buried in Mt. Olivet Today

Mrs. Sallie L. Straughn, aged 78 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Persons, early yesterday evening.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 o’clock at the First Christian church with Reverend W.E. Ferguson in charge. Interment took place following the services in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, with the Snow Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Sallie Lucinda Straughn, daughter of Colonel William M. and Elizabeth Coffey was born August 11, 1858 in Blandville, Kentucky, where she grew to womanhood.
She received her education in Blandville Jr. college and graduated from St. Mary’s college for girls at Cairo, Illinois.
She was married to Charles H. Straughn at Blandville, Ky., May 9, 1878. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. They are, Mrs. J.S. Persons, Hugo; O.E. Straughn, W.C. Straughn, G.B. Straughn all of Dallas, seven grand children and two great grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Straughn moved to Hugo in 1907 and since the death of her husband in December, 1931, she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. J.S. Persons. Mrs. Straughn was baptized at the age of 16 years into the Christian church and has been a faithful worker until her untimely death yesterday.
Pall bearers were Bill Biard, Polly Wynn, Guy Burrous, R.C. Newton, Roy Marshall and E.R. DeWeese.
D.H. Byrd Died Early Sat. Morning

D.H. Byrd, of Swink who died at his home there Saturday morning will be buried at El Dorado, Arkansas, Monday, word from the Coffey-Campbell Funeral home said today.
The body will be shipped from the local funeral home at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
County Negro Died In Muskogee, Sat.

Bud Covington, 66 year old Negro farmer, living near Grant, Oklahoma, died in a Muskogee, Oklahoma, hospital last Saturday after a lingering illness.
He is survived by his widow and two children. Burial was made in Muskogee.
Swink Miss Died At Hosptial Last Night

Little Miss Betty Goman, 4 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Goman, of Swink, died at the Hugo hospital last night at about 11 o’clock.
Funeral services for the little Miss will be held at 3:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. She is survived by her parents, one sister Barbara of her immediately [sic] family.
Coffey-Campbell funeral home will have charge of the funeral arrangements.
Ashes Of Harry Jaudon Buried
Former County Man Died in Calif. Late In August
The Hugo Daily News September 15, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Interment of the ashes of Harry B. Jaudon, aged 22, was made in the Mount Olivet Cemetery this afternoon at 3 o’clock.
Mr. Jaudon, died in San Pedro, California, on August 23, when the car in which he was riding crashed into a gasoline truck and exploded. Mr. Jaudon was burned to such an extent that he died a short time after arriving at a hospital.
Mr. Jaudon is a former resident of this county having lived in the Egg Shell community for many years with his parents.
Following his mother’s death he moved to California, where his sister resides, at this time. His father is his other survivor.
The ashes arrived here yesterday and this afternoon were interred by the Snow Funeral home.
T.B. Herndon Was Buried This P.M.
Pioneer Citizen Succumbs to Illness Wednesday

Funeral services for T.B. Herndon, aged 80, who died early Wednesday evening were held today at the Snow Funeral Home chappel [sic], with Reverend Ernest Hicks, pastor of the First Methodist church in charge of the final rites.
Interment following in the Mount Olivet cemetery.
Pall bearers at the services were: W.H. Andrews, L.T. Rose, W.A. Whitner, W.E. Schooler, Joe Wolff and J. Wren Moore.
Mr. Herndon, was born in Charlotte North Carolina, on April 16, 1856. He moved with his family to Hugo from Paris in 1918 and since that time has resided in this city.
He is survived by his widow, and two sons, Robert H. Herndon of Hugo, W.B. Herndon of Port Arthur, Texas, and one daughter, Mrs. W.L. Peeler, of this city. All of whom attended the funeral services.
Mr. Herndon during his long residence in this city, endeared himself to the citizens of Hugo to such an extent that his death was a shock to all, but not wholly unexpected as he had been in failing health for some time before taking seriously ill a few days ago.
Mrs. Hall Funeral Held Thursday
Interment Took Place In Fort Towson Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Lila Francis Hall, who died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Graves, were held this afternoon.
The services were held at the home of Mrs. Graves and interment took place in the Fort Towson cemetery. The Reverend Ernest Hicks, pastor of the First Methodist church here, officiated at the rites.
At the time of her death Mrs. Hall was 66 years of age and had been in ill helath for a long time. Her death came as a shock to her many friends.
Mrs. Hall was born in Kingland, Arkansas in 1870.
Surviving relatives are, four daughters, Mesdames Ben Graves, Fred Heard, both of Hugo; Mrs. W.B. Baker, Atlanta, Ga., and Carl Easterling, Norman, Okla. Her sisters are Mrs. R. Castleberry, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Augusta Mosley, Kingsland, Ark.; Miss Nellie Hobson, Winneywood [sic], Oklahoma; Mrs. N.S. McKinney, Oklahoma City, and the following brothers C.D. Hopson, Palestine, Texas; T.E. Hopson, Fort Towson, Frank Hopson, Nashville, Tenn.; Mercer Hopson, Fulton, Ark.
Senner funeral home had charge of the funeral arrangements.
C.F. Kirchgraber Died In Paris Sat.
Funeral Services Will Be Conducted Sunday Afternoon
The Hugo Daily News October 18, 1936 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Chalres F. Kirchgrabber [sic], aged 72, died Saturday morning in the Paris sanitarium.
The body of the retired Frisco engineer was brought to Hugo in a Senner Funeral home ambulance where it will be held unutil [sic] funeral services are held in the Senner Chappel [sic] Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock with interment in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Kirchgrabber has lived in and near Hugo for the past quarter of a century and was highly respected and loved by all who knew him.
No announcement was made as to from just what malady he succumbed.
