W.O. McClain Died at Paris Today
Tractor Accident Proves Fatal to County Farmer
W.O. McClain, farmer living near Hugo, who was injured when a tractor he was driving fell from a bridge 12 miles southeast of the city Tuesday night , died at 8 o'clock this morning in the Paris sanitarium. His body was returned to Hugo today by Snow Funeral home. J.J. Hulquist, for whom McClain worked for, said that he believed the fatal accident was caused by darkness. McClain sustained a broken leg, just above the knee in the accident and lay for some time pinned beneath the machine. When brought to Hugo by Hultquist, McClain was rushed to Paris where doctors found it necessary to perform amputation of the leg.. Weakness caused by shock and exposure after the accident are believed to have weakened McClain.
Mr. McClain is survived by his wife, three daughters; Mrs. Willie Linkswiller, Hugo; Mrs.Arthur Guthrie, Route 2 Hugo and Miss Mildred McClain, Route 2, Hugo. Five sons; Otis, Owen, Clarence and Arthur, all living on Route 2 Hugo, and Edwin with the Hugo Company of the National Guard.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
