James Clyde Luna

Funeral services for James Clyde Luna of Fort Towson were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Church of Christ in Valliant with Virgil Romine and Bob Thornburgh officiating. Interment was in Swink Cemetery.

Mr. Luna died Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. He was 88.James Clyde Luna was born May 30, 1917 in Olney, Oklahoma, the son of John Andrew & Lucinda (Powell) Luna. He was raised north of Fort Towson and moved out to New Mexico during the Depression to find work. While there, he met and married Thelma Inez Huston on October 15, 1940 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. He moved back to the Swink area in 1945 and began working as a logger and cattleman until his retirement. He was a member of the Valliant Church of Christ. He lived a consistent Christian life. He was a man who worked hard, was honest and dependable and helped others when he saw a need. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

Surviving relatives: Wife, Thelma Inez Luna of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin & Vicki Luna of Valliant, Okla., Melvin & Elaine Luna of Valliant, Okla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernice & J.E. Talley of Wright City, Okla.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Millard Luna of Valliant, Okla.; three sisters, Virginia Hines of Las Vegas, Nev., Ruth Bagstad of Fort Worth, Texas, and Eula Fay Caldwell of Gatesville, Texas.
