Craig “Joe” Winters

Funeral services for Craig “Joe” Winters of Hugo were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Winters passed away on November 30, 2005 in Hugo at the age of 71. He was born on November 3, 1934 in Boswell to Clarence Lee “Lucky” and Ruby Gladys (Elmore) Winters. He married Wanda Sue Eagleberger on August 17, 1953 in Soper. Joe and his wife operated the Sonic in Hugo for a number of years and they later owned and operated Winters Restaurant in Hugo and worked for the last seven years for Choctaw Nation. He served his country in the U.S. Army. His family and friends will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents; a brother, Cecil Winters; and a sister, Katie Bell.

He is survived by two sons, Randy Winters of Beach Grove, Ind. and Tim Winters of Belk, Texas; one daughter, Darla Matthews of Hugo; five brothers, Alvie Lee Winters of Brawley, Calif., Leon Winters of Sumner, Texas, Dee Winters of Idabel, Doyle Winters of Boswell, and Rudy Winters of Paris, Texas; two sisters, Rubye Glenn of Hugo and Judy Woodrum of Bennington; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
