Kathleen Minter

Kathleen Minter, 76, of Idabel, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005 at Paris. She was born August 16, 1929 in Millerton, the daughter of Ernest and Susie Gardner Murphy.

Kathleen along with her husband Clifton owned and operated Minter’s Grocery Store. After her husband’s death in 1969 she went to work for Kellwood Company and later as a cafeteria worker for the Idabel Public Schools. Kathleen was an avid bowler, loved flower gardening and was a renowned fast pitch softball pitcher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifton; and her brothers, Winston, Bud, Joe, J.W., Billy, Carl, Jimmy, Frank and Gary Murphy.

Kathleen is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Clifton and Jane Minter of Louisville, Ky., Freddie and Loretta Minter of the Oak Hill Community; a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Robert Greenlee of Jacksonville, Texas; grandchildren Brent and Santanna Minter of the Oak Hill community, Anna Minter of Louisville, Ky. and Cephus Minter of the Oak Hill community; a great-granddaughter, Kaylie Minter of the Oak Hill community; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Eva Murphy of Garvin, Lewis and Gladys Murphy of Black Canyon, Ariz., Audis and Mary Murphy of Denison, Texas and Amos and Connie Murphy of Chino Valley, Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Ray West of Ft. Towson; sisters-in-law, Nora Murphy of Idabel and Della Murphy of Ashfork, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Conley-White Funeral Chapel in Idabel with Brother Cletus Hawkins and Brother Blake Gideon officiating. Interment was in the Denison Cemetery.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2005.
