Eva Aline Burks

Graveside services for Eva Aline Burks of Shawnee were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006 at Grant Cemetery.

Mrs. Burks died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at her residence in Shawnee. She was 94.

Eva Aline Burks was born December 13, 1911 near Hugo to Thomas and Emma Torrince-Williams. She married Edgar Lee Burks on October 7, 1928. Mr. Burks later passed on April 16, 1974. Eva was a member of Shoals Baptist Church and was known to be an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a dedicated homemaker and also worked at the family farm near Grant. Eva had lived in Shawnee for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister.

Surviving relatives: Son, Floyd Burks of Shawnee; brother, Douglas Williams of Hugo; two sisters, Lois Nelson of Tyler, Texas and Louise Kirkland of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
