Elsie Mae Gunter

Graveside services for Elsie Mae Gunter of Spencerville were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006 in Spencerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Gunter died January 17, 2006 in McLoud, Okla. She was 79. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.

Mrs. Gunter was born February 7, 1926 in Ector, Texas, the daughter of Clifford B. Allen and Viola “Babe” (Ford) Allen and had lived in Spencerville since 1964. She married George C. Gunter on September 24, 1948 in Paris, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Wanda Mae Harris, and a brother, John T. Allen.

Elsie loved taking care of her home, spending time with her family, enjoyed having company, loved playing dominoes, enjoyed canning vegetables loved blue grass music, and enjoyed going to the Bill Grant Blue Grass Festival.

SURVIVING RELATIVES: two sons: Paul Ray Harris of Midwest City, Okla. and George C. Gunter, Jr. of Rufe, Okla.; one daughter, Barbara Ann Mills of McLoud, Okla.; one brother, Clifford B. Allen, Jr. of San Simon, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and her very close friend, Charlie Miller of Spencerville.

The family received friends Friday, January 20, 2006 at Mrs. Gunter’s home in Spencerville.
