Joe DeWitt

Joe Dean “Slickhead” DeWitt, 74, of Ringold, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2006. He was born on March 5, 1932, 10 miles north of Wright City to Simon Wright and Mattie May DeWitt. Joe DeWitt and Freda Williamson were united in marriage on January 26, 1957 in Wright City. Joe served in the Army, worked for Dierks and after driving a log truck for 40 years, retired. Joe loved fishing with his kids on Glover River, hunting trips to Colorado and spending time with his best friend Freda of 49 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother; Jake DeWitt, 2 sisters; Mary Katherine Bailey, and Wilma Ussery.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory his wife Freda of the home, 3 daughters; Carolyn and her husband Dewey Powers of Valliant, Doris and her husband Wade Snow of Farris, and Janie and her husband Casey Morris of Wright City, 5 sons; Larry and his wife Terry DeWitt of Wright City, David and his wife Janell DeWitt of Valliant, James and his wife Wendy DeWitt of Antlers, Jerry and his wife Michelle DeWitt of Wright City, John DeWitt of Overland Park, Kansas and his special little dog “Foxy Lady”; 1 sister; Helen Veteo and her husband Maurice of Waveland, Miss., 1 brother-in-law Bud Williamson and his wife Jimmie of Wright City, 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 grand dog Louie, numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of other friends and relatives.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at First Assembly of God - Wright City, Okla. with Bro. Mike Hamill, Bro. Gordon Manning and Pastor Sam Bates officiating. Interment will be in Slater Cemetery - Wright City, Okla.
Miller & Miller Funeral Home - Valliant.
