Henrietta E. (Oakes) Dickson

Services for Mrs. T. A. Dickson Set 10 a.m. Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. T. A. Dickson, a prominent and beloved resident of Grant for many years will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Grant Methodist church.
The pastor, Rev. W. E. McCartney, will officiate at the services with Rev. W. M. Vanderpool of Paris, Texas, assisting. Burial will be in the Grant cemetery with Coffey Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers at the rites will be J. T. Mabry, Marvin Dickson, Gene Babb, Ray Merry, Lee Max and Ables McCrum.
Survivors include four daughters, Miss Faye Ables, Mrs. J. R. Norris and Mrs. Lee Max, all of Grant, and Mrs. J.O. Walton, San Antonio, Texas; one son, Ed W. Ables of Paris, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Sue Dennison, Idabel; two brothers, Chris and Wellington Oakes, both of Idabel; a niece, Florence Nelson Smith, and a number of grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas Dickson, preceded her in death in 1912.
Mrs. Dickson was injured fatally when the station wagon in which she was riding with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Norris and family left the highway near San Antonio, Texas and crashed into a tree. Judy Norris received a broken collar bone in the crash while the other three children and their parents received minor cuts and bruises.
Mrs. Dickson died as a result of her injuries in the Medical and Surgical hospital in San Antonio at 1:15 a.m. Thursday. The group was enroute to San Antonio to spend Thanksgiving Day with Mrs. Dickson's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Walton, Jr. The Waltons moved to San Antonio from Hugo about three years ago.
A charter mamber of the Grant Medthodist church and missionary society, Mrs. Dickson was always active as a leader in the church and civic activities at Grant. She was born at Ervin on July 25, 1877 and has lived in the Grant community all of her life. The niece, Florence Nelson Smith, made her home with Mrs. Dickson.
