Florence (Oakes) Dodson

Florence Oakes Dodson, a resident of Hugo, died Sunday in Choctaw Memorial Hospital. She was 84.

Mrs. Dodson was a housewife and homemaker by occupation and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She was born June 12, 1906 in the Ervin Community in Choctaw County, the daughter of Charles Oakes and Margaret Buchanan Oakes. Her husband, George Dodson, preceded her in death in 1965.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Frey of Richmond, Texas an Willodyne Smith of Hugo; three grandchildren, Gary Frey of Missouri City, Texas, Brenda Sims of Sherman, Texas and Brian Smith of Covington, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Mikeal and Jameson Frey; Raechel Sims and Kourtie Smith.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Hugo Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Phillip Kenedy will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

The Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo is in charge of arrangements.
