Services for Ruby Oakes Sweeten will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel at 10 a.m.
Ruby Oakes Sweeten died Sunday, September 7, 2003 in Hugo. She was 84.
Ruby was born November 11, 1918 in Rattan, Okla. to James Bunion and Lola (Ashlock) Rosson. She married James G. Oakes in Frogville, Okla. in 1935. She later married Charles Sweeten in Paris, Texas on December 29, 1965.
She was preceded in death by both husbands and a son, Sergeant David E. Oakes.
She is survived by five sons: James Samuel Oakes of Hugo, Henry Lorenzo Oakes of Naples, Texas, Ernest Wayne Oakes of Sawyer, Bunion Randall Oakes of Hugo and Robert Stanley Oakes of Sawyer; six daughters: Lajuan Withrow of Oklahoma City, Lola Withrow of Hugo, Syble Makerney of Sawyer, Tommie Oakes of Dallas, Texas, Joyce Withrow of Wellston, Okla. and Edna Oakes Berndt of Wills Point, Texas; one sister, Josephine Houston of Hugo; 36 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday night at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
Services are under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
