Willie “W.F.” Ellis

Funeral services for Willie “W.F.” Ellis of Valliant were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Valliant with Scotty Stuart officiating. Interment was in Valliant Cemetery. Mr. Ellis died June 1, 2006 at his home. He was 92. He was a rancher and cattleman. He was a member of the Texas Army National Guard (36th Infantry Division Company M) and was activated when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He was sent to North Africa in 1942 then was in Italy until 1944. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Valliant.
Willie was born July 3, 1914 in Hot Springs County Arkansas, the son of Grover Cleveland Ellis and Mary Ellen (Sutton) Ellis and had lived at his present home since 1945. He loved being on his farm with the cattle. He married Leona Hartline on December 29, 1941. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lydia Dale in 1993.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: three sons, Jerry Ellis of Valliant, Danny Ellis of Valliant and Ben Ellis of McAlester; four brothers, Luther Ellis, Calvin Ellis, Lueying Ellis and Kenneth Ellis, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren.
