Bland Landers, Jr.

Graveside services for Bland Landers, Jr., of Grant, will be
held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the Hiram &
Frankie Wyatt Pavilion in Grant Cemetery with Pastor
Douglas Lee Landers officiating.
Mr. Landers died June 4, 2006 at his residence in Grant. He
was 86. Bland Landers, Jr., was born November 28, 1919 in
Paris, Texas, the son of Leonard B. and Sudie Mae (Lytle)
Landers. Bland and his wife Missouri moved back to this
area 25 years ago from Irving, Texas. Bland had served in the
U.S. Army as Master Sargeant in the Pacific Theatre and the
U.S. Occupation Forces in Japan during World War II, being
rewarded the Victory Medal and Bronze Star. For over 35
years he worked as a structural engineer in the aircraft
industry. Bland was a master craftsman in woodworking, a
metalsmith, and a painter of art. He had a passion for reading
and had acquired much knowledge through his love of
reading. He is preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray
Landers, and his parents.
Bland is remembered as a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and a friend to many people in his life. He will be
loved and missed by all who knew him.
Surviving relatives: Wife, Missouri Belle Wyatt of the home;
son and daughter-in-law, James & Patricia Landers; daughter
and son-in-law, Patricia Frost Elizondo & Cecil Elizondo, III;
grandchildren, Bradley C. Frost, Michael Robert Landers,
Melissa Landers, Elizabeth Landers, Douglas Lee Landers,
Tammye Lynn Everitt; four great-grandchildren.
