H.A. “Spud” Parsons

Funeral services for H.A. “Spud” Parsons of Ringold were
held at 10:00 a.m. June 12, 2006 in Miller & Miller Funeral
Home Chapel in Valliant with Bro. Troy Ruffin officiating,
assisted by: Bro. Mickey Winebrenner. Interment was in Old
Ringold Cemetery - Ringold, Okla.
Mr. Parsons died June 8, 2006 in Hugo. He was 89. He was
a painter of signs, which includes the sign for Beavers Bend
State Park, as well as a Taxidermist. He served in the 45th
infantry of the Army. He worked 4 years in the CCC Camps
as a surveyor and cartographer. He was of the Pentecostal
faith.
Spud was born June 19, 1916 in Ringold, Okla. the son of
Jess Parsons and Daisy (Gordon) Parsons and lived in the
Ringold community for over 75 years. He married Mary Mills
on December 12, 1941 in Sobol, Okla. Spud was a big bass
fisherman; a great talker and he loved his family. He was
preceded in death by his parents.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: his wife Mary Parsons of Ringold;
three sons, Billy Don Parsons and his wife Bertie of Ringold,
Allen Parsons and his wife Pansy of Ringold, and Preston
Parsons and his wife Marie of Ringold; one sister Jessie
McCool of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren and five
great grandchildren along with a host of other family and
friends
