Shirley Maxine Roney

Memorial services for Shirley Maxine Roney were held Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Bill Darrough Pavilion in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.

Shirley died Sunday, May 28, 2006 in Grant, Okla. She was 63.

Shirley was born on Oct. 22, 1942 in Snowflake, Ariz., to John Dayton and Loree (Rogers) Hammock. She married John Arthur Roney on Oct. 20, 1966 in Barstow, Calif. She had lived in this area for the past five years after moving here from Powderly, Texas, and was a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

She was a homemaker and her occupation was in culinary arts. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, John Dayton Hammock and one brother, Darell Hammock.

She is survived by her husband, John Roney of the home; two sons: Rodney Roney of Dickenson, Texas and Frank Roney, of Powderly, Texas; three daughters: Darleen Lewis of Crosby, Texas, Karleen Haynes, of Friendswood, Texas and Terri Kostman, of Powderly, Texas; her mother, Loree Hammock of Hugo, Okla.; three brothers: Dennis Hammock of Hugo, Robert Hammock of Valliant, Okla., and George Hammock of Florida; three sisters: Dora Diamond and Donna LaMay, both of Cayon City, Colo., and Sandra Trapp of Fort Towson, Okla.; 27 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley donated her body to Science Care for medical research.

Funeral arrangements for Shirley were provided by Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.
