Harry Houston Hinkle The Hugo Daily News – February 2, 1970 Transcribed by Ron Henson Stroke Is Fatal To Harry Hinkle Services for Harry Hinkle, long time Hugo resident who died early Saturday afternoon after suffering an apparent stroke about 6 o’clock that morning at his home here, were scheduled for this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Leverett and Steele Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, Tex., burial to be made in Evergreen Cemetery there. Born in Wayne, Cass County, Tex., Jan. 20, 1885, Harry Houston Hinkle was a son of Albert Boone Hinkle and Minnie (McReynolds) Hinkle. The family moved to Paris, Tex., where the father later founded the old Blake and Hinkle Lumber Company. Harry Hinkle moved to Hugo, Indian Territory, in 1906 and lived here the remainder of his life. He first was associated with the old Hugo National Bank, of which he later became executive vice-president. In later years he was an Oklahoma Corporation Commission auditor for two years, then was assistant state banking commissioner, assigned principally to work as a bank examiner. He then accepted a position as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He retired in 1953. In addition to his wife, the former Miss Rose O’Connell, whom he married in Dallas, Tex., Feb 28, 1916, he is survived by their son and daughter, Harry H. Hinkle Jr., Port Washington, N.Y., and Mrs. Robert Barton, San Jose, Calif., five grandchildren and one brother, William C.
