Ostar Johnson The Hugo Daily News – June 25, 1939 Transcribed by Ron Henson Ostar Johnson Dies In Talihina Hospital Struck by Train Near Boswell Ostar Johnson, 43 year old Choctaw Indian of Boswell, died in the Chicksaw-Choctaw sanitarium at Talihina Friday night of injuries received early Thursday when he was struck by a train. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J.B. Ward, pastor of the Clayton Avenue Baptist church, at Big Springs Church two miles west of Kent. Snow funeral directors were in charge. He is survived by his wife and two children, Agnes and Mary Frances Johnson, and a stepson, Willie Bacon, all of Boswell. Johnson was born in Mississippi in 1896. He was a full blooded member of the Choctaw tribe and had been living in this county for many years. The cause of the accident that cost his life has not been determined. He was found beside the railroad track with his left arm severed and other injuries. An early morning train had run over him, it was believed.
