We are looking for information on our great-uncle who we think died and was buried in Vinita. Is there someone in the area that can look up an obituary?
Lionell Earl Fredericks died sometime in Oct 1940. Sorry we don't have an exact date. He might have been living in and died in Eastern State Hospital. We have called the hospital but they don't have records going back this far.
Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Love the idea of turning buildings into a museum. Who do we talk to?
Got another question - If someone was a patient at the mental hospital & they died. If the body wasn't claimed by the family, where would it have been buried? Was there a cemetery on the grounds?

Eastern State Hospital Cemetery 1 mile east of hospital estimated 1500 burials; most unmarked; earliest burial about 1919. Burials started in southwest corner to northwest corner, then back south again. Buried in order the died, or several may have been burial at one time. http://www.okgenweb.org/~okcraig/cemetery/cem_update.htm Hope this helps.

That does help a little. I never thought to look there even though he lived in that area for a long time. He was my g-grandfather's step-son. I've been looking for him hoping to find his mother. Both my g-grandfather, James F. Holden, and my grandfather, Sidney F. Holden, are buried at Summit View. Thanks!
