Submitted on 13Apr2011 at:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.custer/1066/mb.ashx
I recently obtained an obituary for Alice Roberts from Thomas, Custer, OK.
The obit says that Alice "was a member of the River Brethren church and had
been in the mission work for twelve years." She was also a foster mother
which might have been related to the church. The obit also says "Funeral
services were held at Bethany church...by Rev. D. L. Doub."
I would like to find more information about the River Brethren church. Is it
the same as the Bethany church? What type of mission work was she involved
in? Please reply if you know anything about this church or have any ideas to
help me find out more.

Submitted on 3Apr2011 at: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.custer/1065/mb.ashx
Looking for an obituary and burial information for Alice Shields. According
to the SSDI, she died March 1979; last residence in Clinton, Custer County,
Oklahoma. Her maiden name was Spaulding.
Her husband was Carl A. Shields (b: 1878, d:?); they had at least three
children. Two of their children (Carl A. Shields, Jr., and Eola Belle
Eslick) are buried in Clinton Cemetery, so I suspect that may be where Alice
and her husband are buried, but I have not found them on any indexes.
