First Sergeant

Company G, 4th Texas Infantry

Born January 1843 in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas

Died February 10, 1935 in Navasota, Texas of apoplexy and senility

He enlisted July 19, 1861 in Grimes County, Texas.  His unit was part of Hood's Texas Brigade.  He was wounded on September 17, 1862 at Sharpsburg and he was with Lee at the surrender on April 9, 1865

He married on September 5, 1866 to Bettie Kelley in Grimes County, Texas

He made his living as a grocery merchant while living in the Wynnewood area 

He was not listed in the Garvin County Census of 1910 and is back in Grimes County, Texas, where he applied for a pension on April 9, 1927
