Company A, 14th Tennessee Cavalry

Born Dec 26, 1839 near Bolivar, Tennessee

Died February 13, 1906 in Wynnewood, I.T.

Charles William Cox is buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood and does have a military marker

He came to Indian Territory in 1900

He married Sarah E. Wyles, who was born in 1849 and died in 1923, on June 4, 1861 in Lafayette County, Tennessee

In 1915, Sallie E. (nickname for Sarah) filed for a Confederate pension.   She was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi

His obituary said he was one of the pioneer citizens of Wynnewood.  His coffin was draped with the Confederate flag.  He died after a lingering disease of several months.  The UCV and the UDC marched to his house, then the UCV led the procession to the church.  The UDC followed directly behind the hearse.  The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church.  He was said to be a valiant soldier on General N.B. Forrest's staff
