Dr.  Andrew Jackson Robinson

From a 1957 Garvin County History Book

Andrew Jackson Robinson was born February 24, 1866 in Georgia, a son of George Reece and Nancy Kelly Robinson, of Dawsonville.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical Department in 1889 at Nashville.   Following graduation, Dr. Robinson served his internship under Dr. S.T. Loper of Gainesville, GA, who later became his father-in-law. Later he located in Dawsonville, his home town.

He married May Loper in the First Baptist Church in Gainesville on March 23, 1893.

Children born were George Loper Robinson, born Aug 15, 1896, and died April 12, 1936.   He was a veteran of World War I.

Ruby Kate Robinson was born Sept 15, 1900. She taught in the Pauls Valley public schools for many years.   She married W.J. Rayburn, a farmer, and they lived on the Mrs. W.P. Greening farm east of Pauls Valley.

Wray Reece Robinson was born Feb 23, 1898 and died Jan 27, 1899.

Dr. Robinson moved to Whitebead from Dawsonville in 1902.  On about April 13, 1905, he moved to Pauls Valley and lived in a residence that had formerly been occupied by Dr. A.W. Gray's Sanitorium.

Dr. Robinson died while visiting a cousin, G.W. Hyde, of Pueblo, Colorado on Oct 29, 1937.

This is a hand written prescription with Dr. A.J. Robinson's signature.  The picture to the right is the back of this prescription.

I found a Dr. Andrew J. Robinson prescription which contains his signature, but there is no date. The title on the prescription  is "The Palace Drug Store Richardson-Robinson Drug  Co. Pauls Valley, Okla."  On the top it reads office of Dr. A. J. Robinson, phone 97, Pauls Valley, Okla.  I  have asked a pharmacist to tell me what the medicine is and what it was for.  He has done his best but there is one ingredient that he could not find so he was not very sure of what it was.  We think the prescription was for my grandfather, my brother (a child), or my uncle.  My brother died in August 1914 and my uncle in September 1914 and my grandfather died in 1915.  My grandfather had TB, my uncle Typhoid Fever and we are not sure about my brother, he was sick quite a  while before he died. He may have had some sort of fever. They all lived close to one another.
