Auto-Truck Crash Results in Suit

C.E. Stubblefield filed an $1,800.00 damage suit in Garvin County Court Monday. The suit was filed against the Transamerican Insurance Co. and the Oklahoma Highway Department.  The petition stated that in October, 1964, a truck driven by John Frantz Scrivner of the highway department and Stubblefield's car collided at the intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 77, causing damages.

Sheriff Receives 2 Theft Reports

Sheriff Tom Abney received two theft reports over the weekend.  Lois Cottrell of Wynnewood reported the theft of a hog feeder, transmission, generators, starters, carburators and a radio.  Dr. David Clymer of Pauls Valley reported the theft of four hubcaps last Friday night at 806 North Pine in Pauls Valley.

Canning Kitchen Now in Operation

The Garvin County Canning Kitchen in the NYA Building in Pauls Valley is open and in operation, according to Mrs. Beulah Cowling, who is in charge.  She said one canning of potatoes has been made this week.  She said the rains should bring out gardens over the county and produce more vegetables for canning in the next few weeks.  The Canning Kitchen is open each day, Monday through Friday.  It is free to anyone wishing help in canning vegetables, fruits or meats.

City Meeting Hears Plans for Hospital

About 45 representatives of a dozen Pauls Valley Civic organizations met with the hospital committe, doctors and members of the Chamber of Commerce pland and projects committe Wednesday night at the Steak House to plan the vote campaign for the June 28 municipal hospital election.  R.P. Grimmett, chairman of the plans and projects committe introduced Bill Cochran who outlined information concerning the $583,000 general obligation bond election.  It was pointed out that a similar schol bond will be paid off and removed from the tax rolls in 1968 and that little or no increase in the tax levy would be noticed.  "Although we have noted no opposition to the hospital issue, we think there will be questions in the minds of our citizens which we must be able to answer intelligently, " Grimmett said.  Haskell Paul explained that any legal voter who has paid either personal or property tax and lives within the municipality within 12 months prior to the bond election my vote.  Represented at the meeting were the following organizations;  Pauls Valley Hospital Service League, Pauls Valley Classroom Teacher's Association, Valley Mothers Club, special subcommitte, westside study committee, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, Ministerial Alliance, Pauls Valley Art Club and Pauls Valley Garden Club.
