Funeral services for Martha ATKINS, 77, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the St. Dunstans Episcopal Church in Houston. Burial was in Klein Memorial Park, under the direction of Klein Champions of Houston. Mrs. ATKINS was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Warren and Ethel RAINWATER. She died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Mrs. ATKINS graduated from Sallisaw High School and Northeastern State University. At age 21, she began her teaching career in the Oklahoma City Schools. Survivors include her husband, Bucky; three cousins; and numerous second cousins and many long time friends.
Funeral services for Donnie Dale BUTCHER, 69, of Muldrow, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Muldrow with the Rev. Anthony Williams and Kyle Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Blackjack Cemetery, in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. BUTCHER was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Redland, to Junior BUTCHER and Audrey BUTCHER. He died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Peggy Jean LEE, Aug. 28, 1959, in Muldrow. Survivors include his wife, Peggy BUTCHER of the home; one son, Brett; two daughters and one son-in-law, Shannon and Anne and Kenny; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Elton; three sisters, Shirley, Gwen and Sandy; and aunt, Faye. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services for Johnny Eugene FARGO Sr., 62, of Gans, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brent Cemetery, south of Sallisaw, with the Rev. Norman Ledford officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. FARGO was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Brent, to Jess B. FARGO and Hazel Lorene (HARMON) FARGO . He died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in Gans. Survivors include one son, Johnny Jr; one granddaughter; two sisters, Wanda and Janice; two brothers, Charles Jack and Jessie; one niece; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.B. FARGO.
Graveside services for Retha May FENN, 71, of Gans, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gans Cemetery with the Revs. David Harris and Phillip Winn officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. FENN was born March 20, 1938, in Chandler, Ariz., to John Henry FIELDS and Willie Mae (SHROPSHIRE) FIELDS. She died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. She married Preston Lee FENN, Aug. 25, 1972, in San Jose, Calif. Survivors include her husband, Preston of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Regina; five grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy and Helen; one brother, J.C; two best friends, Nancy and Ashley; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Beth HARDEN, 50, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Way of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Jerry Copeland officiating. Burial was in the Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. HARDEN was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to Jacob Milton BROWN and Alma BRUCE MARTIN BROWN. She died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Sallisaw. Mrs. HARDEN was a sales clerk in retail and a homemaker. She was a Texas Longhorn fan, Dallas Cowboys fan, Black Diamond fan and football and sports in general she enjoyed. She enjoyed a good time with family and people, taking pictures, laughter, cookouts and bonfires. She enjoyed sunsets and was of the Baptist faith. She married Ike HARDEN, June 9, 1979, in Carrollton, Texas. Survivors include her husband, Ike of Sallisaw; three sons, Robert HARDEN and his wife, Stacy, of Dallas, Brandon HARDEN and his companion, Tina and James HARDEN and his companion, Stefanie, all of Sallisaw; three grandchildren, LaKota HARDEN, Kyle HARDEN and James HARDEN II; mother, Alma BROWN; two sisters, Anita RODRIGUEZ of Garland, Texas and Alice BROWN of Rockwell, Texas; three brothers, Bruce BROWN of Austin, Texas, Kenny BROWN of Dallas and David BROWN of California; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Samuel Fredrick MAINS II, 78, of Vian, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Enid Cemetery with the Rev. Mr. MAINS was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Altus, to Samuel Fredrick and Marian (McMULLEN) MAINS Sr. He died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Vian. Mr. MAINS enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion of Frederick. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korena War. He drove a school bus for Vian, Sallisaw and Dwight Mission for eight years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Julia Mae of the home; two sons, Michael MAINS and his wife, Carla, of Tulsa and Sammy MAINS and his wife, Pam, of Dallas; one step-son, James JOHNSON of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Nancy Askew of Trenton, Ky.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special care giver, Anita GLASS. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Danny MAINS and one brother, Danny MAINS. Pallbearer is Russell Knoke.
Funeral services for Terry MATHIS, 62, of Vian, are being held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Vian School Auditorium, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. MATHIS was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Miami, to Earl MATHIS and Lula COWELLS. He died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. MATHIS worked in law enforcement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He attended Round Mountain Church. Survivors include his wife, Lora Diane of the home; two daughters, Terri MATHIS SMARR and her husband, Michael, of Russellville, Ark. and Misty MATHIS of Dardenelle, Ark.; one son, Robert MATHIS and his wife, Katherine, of Grove; one brother, Elwood ALLEN of Vian; and six grandchildren, Ryan MATHIS, Tyler MATHIS, Brianna GAMBLE, Branda GAMBLE, Hunter GAMBLE and Aiden SMARR. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Graveside services for Harvey Lee MORGAN, 77, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Upper Camp Creek Cemetery, north of Muldrow, with the Rev. Anthony Williams, Brant Followell and Darin Morgan officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. MORGAN was born June 20, 1932, in Muldrow, to Walter Whit MORGAN and Elsie (STOCKTON) MORGAN. He died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. MORGAN was a furniture upolster and self employed. He was a 17 year veteran of the U.S. Marines and awarded the Combat V medal for valor for major battles in Korea and also a range instructor. He attended the Freewill Baptist church. Survivors include four sisters, Joyce HALL of Fort Smith and Cathy FOLLOWELL, Regina DAVISand Linda SMALL all of Muldrow; four brothers, Carl MORGAN of Keiser, Ark. and Edmond, Glenn and Joe MORGAN all of Muldrow; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Dorothy Ann JOHNSON SCHILLER, 89, of Seminole, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole. Mrs. Schiller was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Seminole, to Captolia C.T. and Martha J. (HALL) JOHNSON. She died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in Seminole. Mrs. SCHILLER graduated from Varnum High School, was in the Civil Service working at Tinker Air Force Base as a PX Supervisor and retiring after 20 years of service. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole.Survivors include her brother, Howard JOHNSON of Sallisaw; many nieces and nephews including, Bill and Ron JOHNSON both of Seminole and Kenneth JOHNSON of Tulsa; nieces, Jo Ellen of Branson, Mo., Beverly MORRIS of Seminole and Carolyn JOHNSON of Washington D.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. SCHILLER, parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services for Lelan L. Lee TATHAM, 91, are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Watts Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Dr. Cheryl L. Tatham officiating. Burial is in the Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mr. TATHAM was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Sallisaw, to Winnie Etta and Louis Arch TATHAM. He died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. TATHAM enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and gardening. He was co-owner of Loran-Tatham and Company in Levelland, Texas. He was employed by Wolff Machinery, and later by Texas Tech University as an agricultural-engineering technician. He was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and most recently a member of the Kenwood Christian Church in Cincinnati. Survivors include one brother, Farris TATHAM of Sallisaw; three sons, Leland L. TATHAM and his wife, Donna, Ronald L. TATHAM and his wife, Sheila WALL, all of Cincinnati and Mannie L. SMITH and his wife, Jolene, of Avon Park, Fla.; one daughter, Cheryl L. TATHAM of Silver Spring, Md.; five grandchildren, Ricky SMITH and his wife, Lawreence, Greg SMITH and his wife, Susan, of Murfeesboro, Tenn., Misty BLOCK and her husband, Mark, of Ead, Tenn., Matt and Elisa TATHAM, Todd and his wife, Amber BROWN and Matt BROWN of Cincinnati; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces. Mr. FULLBRIGHT was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Akins, to David Andrew FULLBRIGHT and Hettie Margaret MILLER BARNES. He died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in Fort Smith. He married Cleo Wanda LOOPER, July 24, 1967, in Sallisaw. She preceded him in death, March 21, 1998, in Sallisaw. He died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, in Poteau. He married Judith Judy ANDREWS, May 5, 1984, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; two daughters, Teresa. and Rebecca; three sons, Jerry, Raymond and Jim; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna; and one brother, Allan. Funeral services for Mike William BUSH, 72, of Smithville were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Bros. Josh Harjo and Roy Pledger officiating. Burial was in Smithville Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home of Talihina. Mr. BUSH was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Marble City to Robert and Martha (SMITH) BUSH. He died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Silvena WILSON on July 15, 1957, in Tahlequah. Survivors include his wife Silvena BUSH of the home; three sons, Michael Wayne and Nila, Robert Milton, and Curtis Eugine and Cari; one daughter, Frances Joy; four sisters, Nancy, Juanita and Clifton, and Stella and Mike, and Berniece and Ronnie; six brothers, Robert, Stanley, Dan, Jack and Brenda, David and Wyenea, and Cornell, and Ricky and Barbara; step-mother Evelyn BUSH; 16 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services for Freddie McNAMEE, 90, of Vian will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vian High School Auditorium with the Revs. Mack Jackson, Thomas Drew and David Ragsdale Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. McNAMEE was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Muskogee to Fred and Myra (MARKHAM) HERSHEY. She died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in Vian. Survivors include, four daughters, Elmira and her husband, Johnnie, Velma, and Erma and her husband, Eddie, and Blanche; three sons, David, Clyde Jr., and Fred and his wife, Shelly; three sisters, Mamie, Ethel, and Edna Mae; two brothers, Freeman, and James and his wife, Rachel; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde McNAMEE Sr., one sister, Birda McNAMEE and one brother Clarence HERSHEY, Sr., one daughter, Joyce McNAMEE, three sons, Howard, Billy and Marvin Dale McNAMEE Jr., three grandchildren, Rene ZACHARY, Marvin Dale McNAMEE Jr. and Alayna THOMAS.
Funeral services for John D. Jay NUNLEY were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Agora Church in the Fontana Shopping Center with the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating under the direction of Gary Kelley Funeral Home. Mr. NUNLEY was born Jan. 31, 1936 in Gore to the Rev. Allison and Vera NUNLEY. He died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009. He married Oletha Mae ASH on May 16, 1955, she preceded him in death. He later married Terry PHILLIPS on Feb. 29, 1980. Survivors include his wife Terry NUNLEY; one son, Trey; two daughters, Sher and Kimberli; one granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jodie; two brothers, Charles, and Earl and Shirley; in-laws Ruby, Logan and Lance; the members of the Jay Nunley Band; and many other relatives. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Beverly Ann TERRELL, 52, of Gore were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the White Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Burial was in Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls. Mrs. TERRELL was born on April 6, 1957 in Tongue Point, Ore., to Earl Martin WILLIAMS and Lola Lee (FUSAN) WILLIAMS. She died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, in Gore. She married Bobby TERRELL on Dec. 16, 1994, in Bentonville, Ark. Survivors include, her husband, Bobby TERRELL of the home; daughter, Brandy; father; brothers, Merl, Donny and Leonard; and sisters, Brenda and Sherry. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Wendell PARKER.
